Pistol Optic Mounting Standards

Updated: Jan 24, 2021

One of the most common questions we get asked is about optics compatibility. In an effort to shed some light on the situation we will be uploading and updating the data we have on what optics share patterns and notes about their compatibility.

Unfortunately there really isn't a set standard for optics as many mounting pattern exist and there are even variations of each pattern. For example, while the Shield RMSc and the Holosun 507K share the same pattern, the 507K varies from the RMSc in that it does not utilize rear locating lugs and the front lug recesses are shallower. While for certain mounts and pistols this is not an issue, for others like the Glock 43X/48 MOS, and Springfield Hellcat OSP, this would require machining or the use of an adapter plate to install.

We hope this helps in your endeavor to make the best choice in your journey of shooting an optic on a pistol!

The files listed below each cover an individual mounting pattern. Basically if an optic isn't listed in the file for a specific pattern, then we have not found it to be compatible with that pattern. We will compile more charts as we have the time (there is a lot of data to put together).

Feel free to download and share as you please.
